Bargain Corner!

This week’s Bargain Corner features a lady that I must admit to not reading before. There is no shame in admitting that we haven’t read someone before. We can’t read them all, right?

Ladies and gentlemen, the book featured this week is called Lake of Sins: Escape and is written by L.S. O’Dea.

Now, after doing a little bit of research for this book and Ms O’Dea, I have discovered something. This something is the fact that we, as readers, really need to broaden our horizons sometimes and pick up books from authors we have not even heard of before, because they may just be the next best book you have read in a while.

Lake of Sins: Escape is a YA dystopian story in the vein of The Island of Dr. Moreau and has an extremely impressive score of 4.5 out of 5 stars on from a massive 119 reviews!

This is what the book is about:

On earth in the near future, all animals over twenty pounds are extinct and humans are not entirely human.

This new world is segregated by classes and for a Producer—the lowest class whose purpose is to produce all the food for the other classes—making the Harvest List can mean the difference between life and death.

Trinity knows her name won’t be on the Harvest List. They only choose the finest examples of Producers to stay and breed and she is far from a good specimen. She’s a mixed-breed and has hidden her differences—claws, fangs, the ability to see in the dark—all her life.

She needs to discover where they take the teenagers who don’t make the list before they come for her. She’s been trying to figure this out for years and discovered a clue during her last trip into the forest.

With only one week left before she’s taken, she sneaks into the woods again but this time, she uncovers predators long thought to be extinct and creatures who should only exist in legends.

Every turn she takes, someone is hunting her but once she discovers the horrifying fate of her kind, can she return to camp and save the others?

This one is PERMANENTLY FREE on Amazon and I think you will agree that, taking into account the rating, from a massive amount of reviews, this is one you should be picking up

L.S. O’Dea sees things a bit differently than most people. This is probably a bi-product of being the youngest of seven children in a time when TV was only worth watching in the evenings or Saturday mornings and there were no computers. Back then, kids had to amuse themselves and being five years younger than her closest sibling she was often the unwilling entertainment.

Since she was so much younger than her brothers and sisters, it was only reasonable that they knew how to do many things that she could not, such as read and write. One day, before she started kindergarten, she really wanted to learn how to spell her name. Her mother was busy cooking or cleaning (she had seven children to care for), so her brothers were instructed to help their baby sister.

After she learned how to spell her first and middle name (Linda Sue), she raced into the kitchen to share this new knowledge with her mother. She was so proud, standing tall and reciting the letters of her name. L-E-M-O-N   H-E-A-D.

Her mother was not happy with her brothers and stopped what she was doing to teach Linda the correct way to spell her name. L. S. still receives a box of Lemonhead candy every year for Christmas.
