Burdizzo Books began in 2016 when Matthew (Matty-Bob) Cash decided he wanted to do something to help raise money for his little niece Victoria who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. As Matthew has never been the sporting type, or one to submerge himself in a bathtub of foodstuff (well not that he’ll admit to) he was at a loss as to what he could do to help this charity. But then he realised that he wasn’t too bad at writing, had sold a fair few books, and knew quite a few up and coming authors in the Horror community. So he created 12 Days, which began as twelve short stories released on consecutive days; each inspired by a line from The Twelve Days of Christmas. At the end of these Kindle-only releases, a bumper anthology, consisting of a multitude of Christmas based stories, featuring a classic by Graham Masterton, was unleashed in hard and soft formats in time for Christmas. This year he has decided to redo the twelve stories with different authors and release these as a annual for grown-ups each year, all proceeds going to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Just after Christmas he took on fellow writer and editor, Em Dehaney, as he admired her work and needed someone to crack the whip where necessary.
When Em came on board, Matty-Bob was just getting Burdizzo off the ground, and she feels that they have achieved so much together in a short period of time. June 2016 saw the release of The Hymn Book, 21 tales inspired by religious songs and texts which raised money for the National Association for People Abused in Childhood (NAPAC). Again, all of their wonderful authors were happy to jump on board and waive any payment so that all the money from the sales could go to the charity. And now they are about to release Sparks, an electric themed anthology to raise money for Resources for Autism, a cause which is very close to Matty-Bob’s heart.
With stunning cover art from Burdizzo’s house designer Matt Hill, they feel Sparks is their best anthology yet. They feel blessed to have so many brilliant writers who are happy to be part of their little Burdizzo Family.
This is a public service announcement on behalf of Burdizzo Books.
